Little R is Ready for 2023 Season
RANSOMVILLE, NY (January 10, 2023) The SANY New York/Burris Racing go-kart season is fast approaching, with the 2023 season opener just four months away.
New for 2023, transponders are required for all kart classes at the Ransomville Speedway. The transponder loop for the Little R will be installed in the Spring. Speedway management is also announcing that the Little R has received new clay that has been put down since the end of the 2022 season. “Hopefully the new surface will help promote some competitive side-by-side racing this year,” stated Little R Race Director Ryan Susice. “We are very excited to see what 2023 has in store for our racers,” Susice added.
The 2023 season will begin with the Little R Driving School on Sunday, April 30. Test & Tune will take place on May 4 and May 7 will be an open practice. Little R Opening Night will take place on May 11. There will be a $500 to win race on Sunday, May 21, which was previously scheduled in 2022 but was rained out. Thursday Night Throwdowns will continue throughout the month of June. Going into the month of July, the Little R will be hosting mid-season money races, featuring the Moden Memorial on Sunday, July 2, and the Doug Etue Memorial on July 6. The July 6 program will also feature FIREWORKS! The schedule is also filled with the traditional extra money to win nights for each class. The season will end with the Back to the Books Bash on September 7. The full schedule will be available under the karting section of www.ransomvillespeedway.com
“We are really excited about 2023”, stated Little R starter Greg Martin. “We’ve added a few things that hopefully all the racers will enjoy.” “The Thursday Night Throwdown races and the Sunday Showdowns that we added to the schedule should be really fun,” Martin added.
The $100 to win nights have all been increased to $125 to win. The annual Powder Puff and Father’s Day race are on the schedule as well as the return of the Mechanics Race. Also on the schedule is the return of the Moden Memorial as well as a memorial race for our friend Doug Etue. “An idea that we wanted to try is the Mid-Season Money Series in the month of July,” Martin said. “While trying to maintain a balance of point races, money races, and time off for family, this is an idea that we wanted to try out.” The Mid-Season Money Series will have its own points champion that will receive a trophy for their efforts.
Making an appearance four times at the Little R will be the adult fun class, which features any four-cycle engine on any go-kart that will pass safety tech. Starter Greg Martin stated that “hopefully we can bring in some of our Canadian friends that showed interest in the class. We also have some of our local guys working on fun karts for this class”.
Another twist for the Little R for the 2023 season will be having a pair of Thursday 30s, which will feature twin 15-lap features for either the Senior Lite or Senior Heavy division. There will also be a week where laps will be increased for the Senior divisions to make them 20-lap feature events.
“We feel that we have a very good balance of money races and fun races for our drivers this year”, comments Ransomville Speedway General Manager Bret Pawlak.
