ABBY CASTILE MAKING MOVE FROM KARTS TO NOVICE SPORTSMAN IN 2021

The Just family, Dave & Scott Just, have been a staple at Ransomville Speedway for a number of years, competing in Sportsman, Modifieds and Sprint Cars. Now the Justs will continue their run at the “Big R” with the third generation of talent joining the action as Scott Just’s 15-year-old stepdaughter Abby Castile will graduate from the go-kart program to the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman for the 2021 season.

Castile has run at the “Little R” for a handful of years, picking up multiple wins in the Novice Class and scoring a victory in Junior 3. Now this tenth grader at Wilson High School will be making the jump to the “Big R” aboard a Novice Sportsman.

“After running go-karts for five years I am very excited to be taking on a new challenge in Novice Sportsman,” said Castile.

While helping Castile make her progression through the go-kart ranks, Scott Just knew the time is right for her to make the leap to the full-sized cars. “We had acquired two cars after last offseason, and I just decided I didn’t want to spend any more money in karts when we have the next step in the shop already,” said Just.

Being the veteran racer and dad that he is, Just has tried to pass down lessons he’s learned behind the wheel to Castile. “He helps me a lot, and prepares me for the future of my racing career,” said Castile, “He’s given me plenty of tips from when he raced Sportsman about car control and how to be a better driver.”

Castile is just part of a busy racing operation for the Just family. Scott Just will attempt to run a schedule of select sprint car shows this season across the region, including the Big R Outlaw Shootout on July 30. His son, Jayme, will be competing in the Novice karts this season, and his sisters Jocelyn and Raelynn race karts and quarter midgets.

Castile hopes her foray into Sportsman Modifieds is just the first step on a long racing career. Her goal is to race sprint cars someday, just like her stepdad does now. She would like to thank her mom and dad for support as well as her sponsors: Stirling Lubricants, Just Signs & Designs and SJE Shock Services.
