Ransomville Speedway Mourns the Loss of Ed Ortiz

On behalf of staff and management, Ransomville Speedway would like to extend our condolences to the friends and family of Ed Ortiz. Ed Ortiz was one of the original members of the Ransomville Slo-Pokes, a group of 15 who started the original speedway in the 1950’s on property behind Ortiz's father's car dealership. 4 years later, the Slo-Pokes moved the track to the current location on Braley Road. Over the years, Ed amassed hundreds of wins all over New York and Ontario, winning championships at Merrittville (1961), Ransomville (1962), Canandaigua (1962-63), Rolling Wheels (1971), and Lancaster (1966). Ed came out of retirement in the late 1990’s to compete in the Pro Stock division, picking up a feature win. May he rest in peace.
