GRIT SPORTSMAN SERIES RETURNS TO THE BIG R THIS FRIDAY
RANSOMVILLE, N.Y. (July 14, 2019) - Ransomville Speedway hosts the GRIT Sportsman for this first time in four years this Friday night as the Modern Corporation and Snyder Industries present a full card of racing.
The GRIT Sportsman last visited the "Big R" in 2015 when former track champion Cody McPherson captured the feature win. Ransomville's event is part of GRIT's Hoosier Racing Tire Wild West Division. This event will be the second West division race of the year as Brad Rouse won the series opener at Humberstone on May 26.
The Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds, Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks, Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman and Gippster’s Collision Mini Stocks will also be in action.
The action has been intense this season in the Modified division. Erick Rudolph started the season with three-straight wins, but since then we've seen Mike Bowman and Mat Williamson find their way to victory lane. This past Friday, Williamson, Rudolph and Bowman had an epic battle for the lead before Williamson clinched his second-straight win at the "Big R".
Williamson's win last Friday was the start of an epic weekend for the driver from St. Catharines, Ontario. He followed that with a win Saturday at Merrittville Speedway in the Jerry Winger Memorial, and then a win Sunday at the Cornwall Motor Speedway in a Super DIRTCar 358 Modified Series event. Rudolph leads Williamson by six points for the Krown Undercoating 358 Modified division points lead.
Pit gates will open at 5 p.m. with grandstands opening at 6 p.m. Racing starts at 7:15 p.m. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students (ages 13-17 with valid school ID), $8 for children ages 9-12 and kids 8 and under are free. Pit admission is $27 for member, $32 for non-member.
In 1964, Steve Washuta incorporated Modern Disposal Services as a way to expand his seasonal paving company into a business that could provide a steady source of income for his family. As the region’s industrial base grew, Mr. Washuta’s dedication and strong work ethic helped his new business develop from a humble two-truck operation in Western New York into the 20th largest waste removal company in the United States. Today, Modern is still a privately owned waste removal company. We employ over 500 hundred people in Western New York, as well as Southern Ontario, Canada. Modern is committed to the most innovative and responsible methods of materials management and recycling. It’s simple – we accept nothing less. As your local waste removal company, we take that responsibility seriously. For more information, log online to www.moderncorporation.com
Incorporated in 1972, Snyder Industries has been a quality-oriented contracted supplier of machined components for the heavy equipment industry. Snyder Industries purchased and installed one of the first CNC Machine tools in all of Western New York back in 1978. Their state-of-the-art facility in North Tonawanda, NY has allowed Snyder Industries to expand their services beyond the region. Today the company enjoys a strong relationship with its customers worldwide and is dedicated to taking a proactive approach to the preservation of these partnerships.
