MODIFIEDS TO BE FEATURED PROMINENTLY ON THE 2019 RANSOMVILLE SCHEDULE (Several Modified special events planned)
RANSOMVILLE, N.Y. (December 9, 2018) - Ransomville Speedway will continue to be the home for Dirt Modified racing in Western New York in 2019 as speedway officials have put together a stacked slate of Modified events.
The Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds will once again be the headliners of Ransomville weekly racing program on Friday nights. 2018 track champion Erick Rudolph will look to defend his title against three-time track champ Ryan Susice and 13-time champ “Mr. Small Block” Pete Bicknell.
Adding to the mix of Modified talent will be Mat Williamson of St. Catharines, Ontario, who takes over the CW Racing Modified from Scott Kerwin. Williamson racked up 17 wins last year, and will make an immediate impact when he returns to the Big R on a weekly basis.
In addition to the weekly Modified action several special races are planned for the upcoming season. The Super DIRTCar Big Block Modified Series rumbles back to Ransomville on Tuesday, August 6 for the 35th annual Summer Nationals. Seven-time series champion Matt Sheppard, Brett Hearn, Billy Decker and the rest of the DIRTCar stars will challenge Ransomville’s best in the $7,500-to-win main event.
New to the Summer Nationals program will be the addition of the Race of Champions Sportsman Series. The RoC Sportsman will make their first ever appearance at the Big R that night as their event will attract top Sportsman teams from across our region. The famous chicken barbecue will also be back to kick off one of the great traditions of summer.
One of Ransomville’s newest traditions, the third annual Sid Jeffrey Memorial, will take place on Friday, July 21. This $2,000-to-win special has quickly become a favorite of both racers and fans with special bonuses up for grabs. “Last year’s Sid Jeffrey Memorial brought out a great car count, and this year’s will be bigger and better for the 358 Modifieds and Sportsman,” stated Ransomville Speedway general manager Jenn Martin.
Modified racing traditionally goes on hiatus at Ransomville following Labor Day weekend, but in 2019 the month of September will feature a pair major Modified touring series events. “Last year we had to reschedule the Sid Jeffery Memorial until after Labor Day,” said Martin. “Both the fans and racers responded by supporting the show in a big way, and we wanted to thank them by adding two huge Modified shows to close out 2019.”
The Pennsylvania-based 358 Modified Tour makes their inaugural visit to the Big R on Friday, September 6. This series featured strong counts last season, and will set up a great battle between their series regulars and Ransomville’s hometown heroes.
Ransomville will close out the 2019 season with the 28th annual King of the Hill weekend, which returns to a two-day format this season. This year’s KOTH will go out with a bang as the BRP Modified Tour will headline the Saturday portion of the event. Ransomville officials are thrilled to finally bring in BRP Tour for the very first time. BRP Tour stars Rex King Sr. & Jr., Rick Regalski, Dave Murdick and former Ransomville winner Tyler Willard will lead the charge of invaders. A number of Ransomville regulars have also run BRP Tour events in the past, including Erick Rudolph, Rick Richner and Chad Brachmann.
There will be more exciting announcement about the 2019 season at Ransomville Speedway in the very near future. Speedway officials are working with other area tracks to establish series for both the Mini Stocks and Street Stocks in 2019.
